Foreign languages and international cultures

The development of foreign languages and awareness of international cultures is very important at ESC Lille.

The objectives are twofold: to provide students with the appropriate language skills and cultural awareness to ensure successful academic exchanges and to secure foreign work experience; and to ensure that the graduates are linguistically and culturally equipped to work throughout the international community.

English

In the first year, students are in small homogeneous groups. Emphasis is placed on improving the students’ verbal and writing communication skills. The students also receive preparation for the TOEFL that they take in the second semester. In the second year, students are required to prepare for an internationally accredited test or exam of their choice (from IELTS, TOEIC, GMAT, CAMBRIDGE, FBCCI). The students also attend a ‘Current Affairs’ module and choose one or two electives from the sixteen professionally or culturally oriented modules that are proposed.

2nd and 3rd foreign language

Students have to study a 2nd foreign language, and we strongly encourage them to start a 3rd one.
