“I have been working in the public sector for 5 years. After managing a team inside the office of a French Ministry, I am now in charge of project and programme management for a national agency working in connection with developing and post crisis countries. In the field of Development Assistance, the research is mainly focused on public, political and economic approaches. However, international organizations working in the sector of Economic Development have revealed that the failure rate in project implementation is high. Such a conclusion drove me to start a PhD in “Project and Programme Management” after graduating from a Master in Management at ESC Lille. This PhD is a great opportunity to share my experience and know-how with researchers involved in the Economic Development Sector. The real strength of this PhD is to mix “work experience” with “scientific research”: professional & business missions are a relevant opportunity to implement findings from research, and research rigor is appropriate to improve working methods. A PhD experience is a real “personal development process” helpful to analyze any working experience as well as to participate to the development of science at a practitioner level. It gives the basics to prepare and enable the transfer of knowledge toward the next generation.”
